Ruth Sikkema
ALBANY, Ill. — Ruth Sikkema, 97, of Albany, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma- Renkes Funeral Home with the Rev. David W. Davies Jr., pastor of the Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lusk Memorial Cemetery, Albany, IL.
Memorials will be established.
She was born May 23, 1912, in Garden Plain Township, IL, to Clarence and Sadie (Stroud) Senior.
She was educated in the Stone Street Grade School of rural Whiteside County and attended Albany High School.
She married Theodore J. Sikkema on February 9, 1929, in Garden Plain, IL; he died April 7, 1977.
Ruth farmed along with her late husband in the rural Albany area.
She was a former member of Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL, and a member of the Jolly Farmer Wives Club. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, knitting and her music, especially playing her organ.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen (Charles) Leavens of Clinton, IA, Phyllis Sikkema of Albany, IL, and Patsy Titus, East Moline, IL; five grandchildren, Charlotte (Dave) Daehler, Karen Burman, Janice (Herbert) Benshoof; Craig (Tami) Titus, Rick (Betsy) Titus; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; one granddaughter, Lorna Leavens; one sister, Evelyn Rowland; and one brother, Harvey Senior.
