Laura L. Stoll

PRESTON — Laura L. Stoll, age 95, of Augusta, Georgia, formerly of the Preston and Miles, Iowa, area, died Monday, November 16, 2009, in Georgia. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Miles Presbyterian Church. Private family interment will be in the Miles Cemetery, Miles. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial fund has been established in Laura’s memory. Online condolences and tributes may be given to the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.

Laura was born June 14, 1914, in Fairfield Twp., Jackson County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Pankow) Lehmkuhl. She attended Preston High School and graduated with the class of 1932. Laura married Leonard Stoll on February 16, 1934, in DeWitt, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1980 in Dubuque, Iowa.

Laura was a homemaker and cherished being able to care for her family. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Miles, Order of the Eastern Star, United Presbyterian Women; she played piano for the United Methodist Church in Preston. Laura enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing piano, playing cards (bridge, 500, 31 and Euchre). Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Laura will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Carolyn (Donald) Samuelson of Augusta, Georgia, Marjorie (Roger) Nolting of Preston, Iowa; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; sister, Dorothy Blossfeld; and four brothers, Ernest Lehmkuhl, Adolf Lehmkuhl, Rudy Lehmkuhl and Arnold Lehmkuhl.
