Audrey D. Ewan

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Audrey D. Ewan, 91, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Clinton, died Thursday, November 26, 2009, in Springfield. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Clinton. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Audrey Dixon Ewan was born on April 3, 1918, in Eureka, IL, the daughter of Lester and Irene (Mishler) Dixon. She was a 1936 graduate of Eureka High School, and attended Eureka College. She married Maurice A. Ewan on February 6, 1937, in Eureka; he died on February 9, 2005.

She had been employed with Medical Associates in Clinton for 15 years until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and American Baptist Women. She served as the church secretary, a deacon and a Christian education board member. She was a past president of the Horace Mann PTA.

She is survived by a son, James “Mike” (Lynne) Ewan of Springfield, IL; 2 daughters, Margaret Redden of Tucson, AZ, and Rebecca (Robert) Dworschack of Carmel, IN; 6 granddaughters, Jenny Rebecca Redden of Pahoa, HI; Molly Susannah Redden of Oakland Gardens, NY; Abby Margaret Dworschack (Milt) Miller of Lake Park Forest, WA; Melissa Marie Dworschack (Ryan) Martine of Fort Collins, CO; Anne (Bob) Sullivan of Wilmette, IL, and Amy (Ken) VanSanten of Forest Park, IL; and 7 fabulous, beautiful great-grandchildren.

She lived her life with dignity, grace and unconditional love. Her kindness touched all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Clinton.
