After a back-and-forth first half, Clinton High School’s boys basketball team trails by a point at halftime at the Class 4A state tournament.
Marion Linn-Mar, the second-ranked team in the state, leads the River Kings 31-30 in a first-round game at Wells Fargo Arena.
Clinton led by three points early in the first quarter, only to see the Lions storm back to take a 15-9 lead after the first quarter.
Linn-Mar led by as many as nine points at 23-14 before the River Kings made their run. Clinton took a brief lead at 30-28 with 1:39 left in the half, but the Lions scored the final three points.
David Johnson leads Clinton with 11 points, while Jake Mangler has eight, including a pair of 3-pointers. Matt Bohannon has nine points to lead the Lions.
