CLINTON —
Clinton Mayor Rodger Holm has announced he will not seek re-election this fall.
Holm, who is a first-term mayor elected in 2007, told the Clinton Herald on Monday afternoon that he will be focusing his efforts on serving at the state level, most likely resulting in a run for a state Senate seat. He said the seat he is seeking will be a new one created as the result of redistricting and he believes it wouldn’t be fair to Clinton residents to serve as mayor while campaigning.
He said his decision not to run has nothing to do with the expected announcement that former Clinton Mayor LaMetta Wynn will run for mayor.
