DES MOINES — Clinton High School's boys basketball team saw its season come to an end Wednesday, falling 67-60 to Marion Linn-Mar at the Class 4A state tournament.
The River Kings trailed by only a point, but Linn-Mar was able to build its lead to six points by the end of the third quarter and to as many as 10 points in the fourth.
Clinton (17-7) got within 63-59 in the final minute, but the second-ranked Lions made 19 of 22 free throws in the second half to hold on.
David Johnson led Clinton with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jake Mangler added 16 points, while Dylan Burn and Mo Walker each had nine.
Matt Bohannon had 26 points for Linn-Mar and was perfect in 13 attempts at the free-throw line.
