Camanche Fire Department will host MDA breakfast

CAMANCHE — The Fire Department will host the 33rd Annual Pancake Breakfast for Muscular Dystrophy during Camanche Days next weekend.

This event has been spearheaded by current and retired firefighters and members of the Camanche Masonic Lodge concerned about the cause.

“It’s a cause we’ve always been involved with,” Fire Chief Dave Schutte said. “It is especially significant, because it really hits close to home with the Paasch family.”

The event will be Aug. 12 at Camanche High School from 6 a.m. to noon. This annual breakfast raises about $13,000 a year along with their door-to-door collections that will take place Aug. 29.

“It’s a lot of work, but all of the guys enjoy helping out and that’s why we do it year after year,” Schutte said.

Firemen will be there early to serve golfers headed for the tournament at The Oaks with the tee-offs beginning at 6:30 a.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $6 for adults and $4 for children from any Camanche firefighter. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, orange drink and milk.

“Camanche Days is proud to have the annual event affiliated with us every year,” Camanche Days Board Member Brenda Larkey said.
