CLINTON —
Community leaders and employees of the Clinton Auto Group gathered Wednesday to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new $3.5 million dealership.
“It’s a big undertaking, something we needed to do,” Clinton Auto Group co-owner Steve Lindquist said.
The Clinton Auto Group has been in its current facilities at the corner of Lincoln Way and South 19th Street since 2007. Co-owner Craig Miller said they have been considering the move since 2009.
Their current facility is 16,000 square feet on 2 1⁄2 acres. The new facility will be 26,000 square feet on 6.88 acres at the northeast corner of Mill Creek Parkway and Valley West Drive near Wild Rose Casino and Resort.
The 6.88-acre property the group purchased will allow for the addition of a car wash, increased inventory and an enhanced customer experience, according to Miller.
They will continue to offer Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Ram, Nissan, Lincoln and Jeep vehicles, financing and vehicle maintenance services, but the sales and service operations will be housed in one facility rather than the two the business is currently divided into.
Approximately 40 people, including at-large City Council member John Rowland and the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce also showed their support for the project and the impact it will have on Clinton and that area specifically.
Miller praised the employees who he said bring meaning to the new dealership.
“This is not about Steve and I,” he said, motioning to the group of Clinton Auto Group employees behind him. “It’s worthless without these people.”
The company hopes to be in their new facility in May.
