Clinton administrator applications reviewed

CLINTON — Clinton’s next city administrator will be one of 17 candidates that the city administrator search committee is currently reviewing.

Applications for the $100,000 plus position were due on March 8.

According to HR consultant and search process leader Paul Greufe, the committee received 24 applications, but seven were ruled out because they didn’t meet the minimum qualifications or did not submit a complete application packet.

Members of the city administrator search committee, which consists of community members and city employees, will have until March 26 to review the applications. At that time they will meet to discuss what applicants they would like to interview. The interviews are tentatively scheduled for April 1 and 2, Greufe said.

After the applicants have been interviewed by the search committee, committee members will decide who they think should be presented to the council for review.  The council will have the final decision on who is hired.

Once the position was vacated in November last year when Jeff Horne resigned at the request of the Clinton City Council, council members decided to take a different approach to hiring a city administrator.

They selected 11 people to serve on the search committee. After search committee members discussed what they would like in a city administrator, ads were posted on Iowa League of Cities and International City/County Management Association websites as well as monster.com.
