BELOIT, Wis. —
Jabari Blash singled in Ramon Morla with the go-ahead run in a two-run fourth inning Friday night, and the Clinton LumberKings led the rest of the way in a 6-3 Midwest League baseball victory against Beloit.
The LumberKings sealed their third consecutive victory when Anthony Phillips delivered a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning.
Beloit scored first when Steven Liddle led off the bottom of the second inning with his first home run of the year. But it didn’t take Clinton long to answer.
The LumberKings pulled even in the top of the third when Phillips doubled with two outs and scored on a single by Nathan Melendres.
Clinton took the lead in the following inning. Ramon Morla led off with a double to center field and scored when Blash singled up the middle. Dillon Hazlett added a run-scoring single later in the inning to make it 3-1.
The Snappers got one run back in the bottom of the fourth on Adam Bryant’s single, but Clinton responded when Phillips continued a big night at the plate with a home run to lead off the fifth. Phillips finished with three hits in four at-bats.
Jeremy Dobbs earned the win for Clinton, with David Colvin going the final 3 1/3 innings to earn his first save.
