• The Clintonish Knitters meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Sunday
• Churches from across the Clinton region will gather for a prayer service to recognize the annual week of Christian unity at 2:30 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 2100 N. Second St., in Clinton. The sermon will be delivered by the Rev. Jane Rothman.
All are welcome to be a part of the event, which is being coordinated by the Clinton Ministerial Association. A fellowship reception will follow the service. A collection of non-perishable food items will be collected for Pantries United, which services the Clinton area. Cash or checks also will be accepted.
Celebrated annually in January between the feast of the Confession of St. Peter and of the Conversion of St. Paul, the week of prayer for Christian unity is a way in which Christians around the world remember one another in prayer.

• Clinton High School's National Honor Society induction ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in the Vernon Cook Little Theatre with a reception to follow.
Mark Massey, 2013 honored teacher, will be the featured speaker. Forty-four members will be inducted.

• The Volunteer Millers at de Immigrant windmill in Fulton, Ill., will host their first program in 2013 at 6 p.m. at the Windmill Cultural Center, 111 10th Ave.
All miller programs in the 2013 series coordinate with Fulton’s tourism theme: “Lincoln Highway Centennial 1913-2013: Travel & Tribute.” Martha Bonte, instructor at Clinton Community College, will lead a discussion about the book “Country Driving,” by Peter Hessler. The book looks at changes that have happened in China in recent years, including the influx of automobiles in the country.
Although the public is encouraged to read the book prior to the discussion, it is not a requirement. Attendees may also participate by listening to the experiences Bonte and others have had in China.
Fulton residents may borrow a copy of the book from Schmaling Memorial Library. The event is free and open to the public.

• The Whiteside Forum will present "Think Global, Act Local: Agriculture" at 6:30 p.m. in the program room of the Odell Public Library with guest speaker Don Beswick of Morrison, Ill.
He is an officer at Community State Bank, Fulton branch, as vice president of Ag and Commercial Lending, owns two businesses, and grew up on the farm. Along with his wife Peggy, Don owns and operates "Bes-Wick Homebuilders Ltd." building agriculture, commercial and residential buildings, and also "Appraisal Options" Iowa and Illinois licensed appraisers of residential, ag, commercial, special and condemnation properties.

Break the course record in your gender is new this year, and the winner earns $100. Bryan Glass holds the men’s course record of 20:15. Jessica Langford set the women’s course record of 23:21.

All participants receive the official, originally-designed TECH race shirt, have their names listed in the Clinton Herald, are eligible for some great door prizes, free refreshments after the race, and entry into the post-race party at a local establishment. Special medallions bearing the image of B-rrry Bear, the official race mascot, are presented in 13 age divisions for both men and women. The B-rrry Challenge encourages area organizations to get involved while competing for the top award. Participants include the name of their Challenge Team on the registration form.
