CLINTON —
A new grant will help fund salaries at the Sawmill Museum.
The museum recently received an Iowa Community Cultural grant of $14,496 from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. The grant will supplement salaries at the museum for the 2012-13 year.
The duties of director of education have been added to the assistant director position and funded for an additional 12 hours per week.
Brenda Lineville has worked at the Sawmill Museum since February and these additional hours will enable her to implement the school field-trip programs. Linville plans every program to be appropriate for the curriculum and age of the group.
A part-time Sawmill manager also is funded by the grant. The position is funded for 12 hour per week from October to June 2013.
“The sawmill is the big attraction at the museum,” Director Kelly Halbert said. “The individual I hire for this position will need to be able to talk with visitors, involve volunteers, and maintain and operate the saw.”
