Colorful signs of fall fast appearing

CNHI News Service

— It’s too early to tell what impact the long, hot, dry summer will have on the annual fall foliage, but it’s not too soon to say those days of beautiful autumn colors are fast approaching.

From the high slopes in the Rockies to the mountains of upstate New York, yellows and reds are beginning to replace green as leaves begin to change hues.

New York state's foliage season is officially under way, as the first significant signs of fall colors are beginning to appear in the Adirondacks and Catskills regions.

Visitors in the Adirondacks can expect 15 percent color change this weekend, with muted fall colors of burgundy and yellow, along with a few splashes of red and orange.

In the Catskills, leaf watchers can expect to find average-to-bright shades of yellow and gold starting to appear against a mostly green backdrop.
