Arrest made in attempted murder case

LIVE OAK, Fla. — An Illinois man has been arrested for the attempted murder of Shannon Wrench, a 34-year-old woman who was found unconscious alongside a north Florida road.

Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron said Wrench was able to offer informative to authorities after she awoke after nearly three weeks in a hospital where she had remained unconscious.

That led to the arrest of Shawn Patrick O'Bryan, 38, of Rantoul, Ill., who was arrested by the Rantoul Police Department on a charge of attempted first degree murder.

Cameron wouldn't give too many specifics, but stated that Wrench

and O'Bryan knew each other somehow. He also may have had relatives living elsewhere in Florida.

O'Bryan, 38, was booked into the Champaign (Ill.) County Jail awaiting a hearing for his extradition to Suwannee County.
