CLINTON —
The Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce has a New Year’s resolution: Host events that reach a broader spectrum of the business community.
It’s a trend Chamber President and CEO Nathan Sondgeroth said was started in 2012 with the creation of the Family Flying Fest and will continue in order to provide ways for Clinton-area business people to network while still spending time with their families.
“In a different era, it may have been the assumption that people would sacrifice family time to attend these networking events,” Sondgeroth said. “That’s not really the case anymore. Families want to do things together.”
The new events include Chamber Date Night, which invites members out for a night with their special someone in February; Father/Daughter and Mother/Son reception, a dress-up event with photos in April; and Family Pool Party in July.
These events will allow members to engage in a business sense while simultaneously engaging their families.
“At the end of the day, the Chamber needs to be relevant and useful to a wider spectrum,” Sondgeroth said. “It’s also about making sure the whole family bonds to the community.”
While the Chamber has added events that promote family involvement, the organization also will continue to focus on events its members look forward to every year, such as the annual golf outing.
“Biz After Hours” is also getting a new twist. Three times during 2013, 15 Chamber members will have the opportunity to showcase their businesses.
Other events throughout the year will include the Women in Business Spring Dinner with a speaker, Chamber night at the LumberKings, Girl’s Night Out and Jingle Bell Jam.
“We have a balanced calendar in 2013,” Sondgeroth said. “Really, it’s a reflection of the modern world.”
