Camanche Days draws to a close

CAMANCHE — Festivities throughout the small city brought in big crowds this weekend during the annual Camanche Days celebration.

It was a memorable year for the event, filled with new additions and changes to accommodate for the construction on the city's main drag, Washington Boulevard.

Events included everything from sports competitions to kids games to a parade, carnival and much more.

Many of the new events were planned by the newest members to the Camanche Days Board, the Teen board.

The group of teens ages 13-16 started a volleyball tournament, wiffleball tournament, ran the talent show and more.

Both the parade and Camanche Classic routes were adjusted to avoid traversing construction zones. Despite the changes, both events remained filled with spectators and participants.

“We had perfect weather, successful events and a great turnout,” Camanche Days Board Member Brenda Larkey said. “Another great Camanche Days.”

Fireworks and live entertainment closed out the final night of Camanche Days on Sunday night.
