Community Christmas dinner is Monday

CLINTON — Dinner and gifts will be offered to families in need at the Corner Deli Christmas Dinner on Monday.

Employees at Corner Deli and In-formation Referral and Assistance have collaborated on the event for several years and consider it a highlight of the holiday season.

“We do this to help out the community and bring Christmas cheer,” Employee Holly Skoff said. “It’s great to help out those who may not have the resources to provide Christmas dinner for their families.”

Corner Deli at Fifth Avenue South and Third Street, provides turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and other holiday favorites free of charge. Dinner is served on Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vol-unteers and Infor-mation Referral also lend a hand by helping serve the families and give gifts to the children. Everyone’s favorite holiday visitor, Santa, will be there to greet the families.

Families sign up either through Information Referral or Corner Deli and both are happy to reach out and help others.

“It’s so sad that some people have no place to go and feel like they are part of something,” Information Referral employee Brenda Traver said. “It’s fun for us to get involved; that’s what Christmas is supposed to be about.”

Toys are donated by Nestle Purina through their bowling fundraiser event held after Thanksgiving each year.
