CLINTON —
Clinton Area Showboat Theatre recently announced a selection of new ticket passes for the 2013 season.
In addition to the traditional five-show season pass, a new two-ticket gift pass and a family pass are now available.
Prices on all three passes are discounted through Dec. 24. The two-ticket gift pass is $36; family pass, two adults and two children, $65; and the five-show season pass is $90. On Black Friday, the five-show pass will be $85. The Showboat box office will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
Tickets are now available at Clinton Printing, all three Wagner Pharmacy locations and online at www.clintonshowboat.org. For attendees who shop online, the Showboat participates in the igive.com program for non-profit organizations. Shoppers can select the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre at the igive site as their non-profit and continue to shop online.
Tommy Iafrate will return as producing artistic director for the summer season. A graduate of Western Illinois University with an MFA in directing, Iafrate is an assistant professor and resident musical director in the department of theater and cinema at Radford University in Virginia.
“I’m most excited to return to the Showboat because of the wonderful community of artists that get to work together during the summer. It’s really a treat developing a relationship with a company of actors, designers and other theater practitioners so that we can watch our work grow over the course of a season.”
The summer season begins June 6 with the musical “Forever Plaid,” which highlights a barbershop quartet group fresh out of the 1950s. “Godspell,” which opens June 20, is the 1970s rock-inspired musical with songs as “Day By Day.” The third production will be the “Sound of Music,” opening July 3. The musical “She Loves Me,” which inspired the 1998 romantic comedy “You’ve Got Mail” will open July 25. The final show will be “Almost Maine,” a play about people who live in the town of Almost, opening Aug. 15.
“It’s a season of plays and musicals that the Clinton community will really enjoy. All of our 2013 productions are wholesome, family-friendly fare that all different types of audiences will love,” he said.
CAST’s commitment to education will continue with the intern program’s production of “Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr!” on Aug. 10 and 11. The children’s camp, available to students entering first through eighth grade, will expand to offer two sessions July 8 to 19 and July 29 to Aug. 10.
