CLINTON —
Employees from Clausen Company are hoping to make Christmas a little brighter for those in need.
Owner Pete Clausen presented donations this week to two area organizations that will help needy families this holiday season. Throughout the fall, Clausen employees donated $5 from their checks each pay period.
These funds were given to the Holiday Network and the Victory Center.
Clausen has been a corporate sponsor for the Holiday Network for 15 years. Tammy Meyer, from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, said Clausen has provided transportation and storage for the Holiday Network. Meyer also has received stocking stuffers from the company.
“He’s (Clausen) really a good community resource and we appreciate all that he and his employess do,” Meyer said.
This is the first year that Clausen has donated to the Victory Center. Clausen appeared at the Victory Center, 505 Ninth Ave. South, along with some of his employees, to donate $2,000 and 125 drink bottles as stocking stuffers.
Clausen said his employees came up with the idea of donating to the Victory Center. He was getting ready to send out gifts of coats and other items to customers, when they told him they would rather feed local individuals who are hungry.
“We hope to continue this and provide some services to the Victory Center,” Clausen said.
The Victory Center will surprise seven families, who are not signed up for other programs, with items on Dec. 21. Pastor Ray Gimenez said the funding from Clausen is fundamental.
“I think this is phenomenal,” Gimenez said. “You know, $2,000 equates to $20,000 worth of food in a food bank.”
