Family receives Red Cross aid after fire

FULTON, Ill. — The Gateway Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is providing services to a family involved in a fire Monday night in Fulton.

The Fulton Fire Department responded to a car fire in an attached garage at 7:46 p.m. Monday at 6368 Holly Road. Upon arrival, the garage was fully engulfed with flames. The fire was under control in 35 minutes and was contained to the garage and breezeway, which were deemed a total loss.

The house sustained heavy smoke damage.

The Fulton ambulance transported two people from the home to a hospital. A firefighter also was transported to the hospital. The firefighter was treated and released, while no condition report was available for the two people inside the home. The Red Cross said they are providing lodging for two adults and one child.

The Fulton Fire Department responded to the fire with two engine companies, two tenders, two ambulances and 18 personnel. The Albany, Morrison, Thomson and Erie fire departments in Illinois provided mutual aid. Firefighters were on scene until 11:30 p.m.
