Rebels, Indians go 2-3 on track

ROCK FALLS, Ill. — Northeast edged Camanche for second place and Fulton tied for fourth place Monday at the Rock Falls indoor boys track meet at Westwood Sports Complex.

Sterling Newman won the eight-team event with 87 points, while Northeast scored 68 and Camanche had 62. Fulton and Kew-anee tied with 48 points.

Camanche’s Derek Hark-sen was a double winner in the sprints, taking first in the 60-meter dash in 7.22 seconds and the 200 in 23.43. The Indians beat Northeast across the finish line in the 1,600 relay, winning in 3:41.87.

Northeast got wins from Connor Soenksen in the 400 (54.25) and the 800 in 2:09.26, edging teammate Nick Anderson by .65 in a 1-2 finish. Bo Lingle of Northeast won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.

Fulton’s Bryce Hole-singer won the long jump at 20 feet, 2 inches and was second in the 60 hurdles in 8.98. Teammates Austin Regenwether and John Widener went 1-2 in the shot put, with Regenwether winning with a toss of 40-7, while Widener went 38-9. Colby Dykstra (38-1.25) was fifth for the Steamers.

Other top finishes for area athletes included Mike Osaro of Camanche, third in the 60 hurdles (9.10); Jacob Nelson of Northeast, third in the shot put for 38-7; Camanche’s Easton Mc-Daniel was fourth (24.97) and Northeast’s Ben Hildebrandt was fifth (25.19) in the 200; Northeast’s William Hasken took fourth (55.93) and Camanche’s Thomas Brant-ley was fifth (58.50) in the 400; Fulton’s Hobs Winter was fifth in the 800 (2:21.83); Fulton’s T.J. Huizenga was fifth in the long jump (18-9); North-east’s Nick Wall was fifth in high jump (5-4);

Northeast took second in the 3,200 relay, while Camanche was third; Fulton took fourth in the 1,600 relay; and Camanche had a 1-2 finish in the 800 relay.
