Adams, Lampe win Marquette races
Herald Staff Report
BELLEVUE — Codie Adams of Camanche won the boys race and Sarah Lampe of Bellevue Marquette beat Audrey Griffin of Prince of Peace by nine seconds for the girls title Monday at the Bellevue Marquette cross country meet at the Bellevue Golf Club.
Adams ran the 5,000-meter course in 17:08 as Camanche finished second to Durant/Bennett. Lampe won the 4,000-meter girls race in 16:07 and helped the Mohawks to the team title.
Prince of Peace finished third in both races.
“We thought we did not run well Saturday on a mucky day at Clinton and needed to do better,” Prince of Peace coach Dave Lawrence said. “The boys did a little better. We’ll have chance to go to state. The top five all did pretty well. If we can get a little better we’ll have a chance to go to state in both boys and girls.”
Anthony Sinn led the Irish boys with an eighth-place finish, while Katie Isenhour (fourth) and Chrissy Kokjohn (sixth) joined Griffin in earning top-10 finishes for the Irish girls.
“Katie and Chrissy ran good times on a tough course,” Lawrence said.
Prince of Peace has a final tuneup Saturday at the North Linn Invitational before hosting the Big East Conference meet Friday, Oct. 16, at the Ericksen Center.
