CLINTON — Clinton police are investigating a report that a man with a gun was inside Clinton’s Wal-Mart store on Monday.
Officers responded to a call of a man with a gun at Wal-Mart just after 11 a.m. Monday. Store Co-Manager Dennis Purcell said a store associate noticed a suspicious person with a weapon and notified store officials, who reported the situation to the police.
Clinton Police Sgt. Terry St. Ores said the store reported a white male wearing full camouflage with a handgun tucked in his back waistband.
He said the Clinton Police Department spoke with store management and the store was not shut down or evacuated, but several plainclothes police officers performed a thorough search of the premises.
After being unable to locate the suspect, more uniformed officers arrived and another search of the building was done, though the subject was not found.
The incident is under investigation by the Clinton Police Department and officers are looking at surveillance tape from the store in an attempt to identify the subject.
