CLINTON —
Board of Supervisors met as the Board of Trustees for Drainage Districts to discuss the possibility of changing the procedures for surveys at the request of several citizens at a meeting on Monday.
During a discussion on a review of survey data for drainage district 23, laterals one and two, several residents of the district approached the board with concerns.
The citizens expressed concern with the lack of notification when surveys were done in their area. Residents in the drainage district are billed for the costs when a survey is done in their area.
When a request is made for making changes to a district the county must survey the area to assess whether repairs and/or work is needed. Public hearings are held for projects, but not for surveys.
County Engineer Todd Kinney said he would be open to having public meetings and/or hearings for drainage district surveys if the board deemed it necessary.
Allowing the extra meetings is a possibility, according to the supervisors.
“It’s a good idea,” John Staszewski said. “It’s definitely something to look into.”
The meeting also included a brief discussion on the proposed settlement in class action lawsuit regarding sale of municipal derivatives by JP Morgan and other companies.
Bonds purchased for secondary roads and the rail port in 2009 and 2010 had issues with price fixing after the The bonds were sold to someone else after and now the county must take action or be part of the class. The County Attorney’s office is working on the issue.
Other actions:
• Approved provider contracts Mental Health Services with providers of contracted services being Skyline Center, Inc; Clinton Municipal Transit Administration; and St. Luke’s Hospital.
• Approved request for tax adjustment for Lynn and Shirley Hoffman.
• Approved personnel appointment of Correctional Officer Michael D. Peters at the Clinton County Jail.
• Approved personnel appointment of Gwen Costello as secretary for the Clinton County Community Assistance Office.
