CLINTON —
A hiker fell off the bluffs in Eagle Point Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Clinton Fire Department responded to a report of a hiker falling north of Eagle Point Lodge, near the north drive at 2:20 p.m.
Battalion Chief Joel Atkinson confirmed that the man was hiking with his 9-year-old son when he fell 50 feet straight down and then rolled 30 feet to the railroad tracks. The son went to the road and flagged someone down for assistance.
Medics spoke with the man, who was conscious and able to talk, first on a cellphone and then in person from on top of the bluffs.
The fire department went up the track with a cart and all terrain vehicle with the assistance of the police department.
After approximately a half an hour, the man was transported to Genesis East by MedForce.
Atkinson would not release the name of the hiker.
The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Clinton Police Department and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
