Camanche man killed in motorcycle accident

FOLLETTS — A Tuesday night motorcycle accident left a 45-year-old Camanche man dead.

Kirk A. Kempter, of Camanche, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on 292nd Street, just east of 360th Avenue, two miles west of Folletts.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the accident at 7:05 p.m.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, the initial investigation shows Kempter was eastbound on 292nd Street when he failed to negotiate a curve. His 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle left the traveled portion of the road and entered the north ditch. Kempter was thrown from the vehicle and landed in the north ditch.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Low Moor firefighters, Genesis Ambulance and the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
