CLINTON —
The Fulton City Council voted Monday to accept a bid on the city’s electrical aggregation plan.
The bid, which came from First Energy Solutions, was the best of six offers reviewed by an ad hoc committee, according to Third-Ward alderman Warren Juist.
The bid acceptance comes after the May 2 approval of the aggregation plan. The plan will result in significant savings for involved small business owners and residents, Fourth Ward alderman Howard Van Zuiden said. In particular, the council is hoping to capture savings this summer during the air conditioning season.
With municipal aggregation, customers of a municipality combine their multiple retail electric loads to take advantage of the economic benefits of Illinois’ competitive retail electric market. Under the Fulton plan, the electrical loads of the residential and small commercial customers would form a buying group.
The council also plans to issue notifications to the public to ensure that community members understand the aggregation plan.
A resolution regarding the Heritage Park lots was on the agenda, but the council did not discuss the measure. This resolution will be on the agenda for the next Fulton City Council meeting.
