CHADWICK, Ill. —
A Friday night roll-over accident left a Chadwick man dead.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 cellphone call at approximately 7:40 p.m. about a roll-over accident on Illinois 40 at the intersection of Bill Hill Road, just west of Chadwick, according to a press release.
A vehicle driven by James Drennan, 57, of Chadwick, was westbound on Illinois 40 when it drove across the roadway, traveled into a ditch, struck a culvert and rolled over.
According to the release, Drennan was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Chadwick fire and ambulance extricated him from the vehicle and the LifeLine helicopter responded to the scene.
Drennan was pronounced dead at the scene. Also assisting at the scene were Mount Carroll, Ill., ambulance, Chadwick and Mount Carroll police departments and the Carroll County coroner’s office.
The accident remains under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
