CLINTON —
The Clinton City Council is scheduling a meeting to discuss the performance of City Administrator Jeff Horne.
According to Clinton Mayor Mark Vulich, the discussion will occur during a special council meeting that will be open unless Horne requests the discussion take place during a closed session.
If, during the meeting, the Council were to make a motion to terminate Horne, he would receive six month’s severance per his contract, Vulich said.
Horne also would receive six month’s severance if he tendered his resignation at the request of the council. Horne would not receive severance if he voluntarily tendered his resignation.
The Council could also choose not to take any action at the meeting.
Vulich did not know when the meeting would take place at this time.
After speculation about Horne’s absence surfaced in mid-October, he stated he was taking vacation time to deal with personal issues. He has not returned since.
City Attorney Jeff Farwell is serving as the acting City Administrator in Horne’s absence, Vulich said.
Horne did not respond to requests for comment.
