Woman dies after being hit by train

DEWITT — A woman is dead after being hit by a train near DeWitt.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched  at 10:09 p.m. Friday to the Union Pacific rail crossing on 300th Avenue, on the east edge of DeWitt, located approximately 1/2 mile north of U.S. 30, for a train-versus-pedestrian collision.

Upon arrival deputies located a white adult female who had been struck by a westbound Union Pacific train, according to a press release.

The female, identified as Kristina Marie Johnson, 21, of Davenport, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The body will be transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

Her obituary is published on page 4A of today’s Clinton Herald.
