Teen arrested in connection with pizza robbery

CLINTON — More arrests are expected after Clinton Police apprehended a Clinton teen for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a Pizza Hut delivery driver.

Darren Cross, 17, of Clinton, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery.

He made his initial court appearance Thursday. Bond has been set at $25,000.

Clinton Police Sgt. Colin Reid said more arrests are expected, but would not elaborate on how many and when.

According to the Clinton Police Department, two individuals struck a pizza delivery driver with a brick and then stole the food being delivered at 10 p.m. June 24 to 847 Fourth Ave. South.

Upon arrival, a delivery driver from Pizza Hut reported that he was attempting to deliver a pizza at the Fourth Avenue South residence when he was approached from behind by two individuals.

After being hit by a brick, the man said the individuals took the food and then used the brick to break out the rear window of his vehicle.

The pizza delivery driver was treated at Mercy Medical Center for injuries sustained during the alleged robbery.

First-degree robbery is a class B felony and punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

The Clinton Herald does not publish names of juveniles indicated in crimes, unless the alleged crime is a felony.
