MAQUOKETA —
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded Saturday evening to a roll-over accident with life-threatening injuries.
According to a press release, emergency personnel responded at 5:11 p.m. to a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 61, south of the Maquoketa city limits.
William C. Richardson, 76, of Indianola, was northbound on U.S. 61 when he drove onto the left shoulder, overcorrected and drove off of the right side of the road, rolling over three or four times and coming to rest on its top.
Richardson had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Maquoketa Rescue Squad.
According to the press release, he was transported to Jackson County Regional Health Center and then airlifted by MedForce helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals with life-threatening injuries. His condition was unavailable at press time.
