DAVENPORT —
WQAD-TV Meteorologist Terry Swails will embark “On the Chase,” for a second consecutive year, and this time, he will partner with the Clinton Herald to provide readers an inside look at nature’s most violent storms.
Swails, his team, and award-winning photographer Jim Reed will leave May 9 to capture storms around the Midwest through stories, photos and video.
A live mounted camera streams every minute of the chase, and Swails will provide updated blogs, photographs, and videos of what the team encounters on its week-long trip.
“Last year, weather conditions caused us to focus on south-central Kansas and Oklahoma,” Swails said. “We encountered an EF-3 tornado just southwest of Wakita, Okla. "It was captivating to watch but I was shocked at how quickly things happened. We thought we would have more time to prepare for it.”
Information provided by Swails and his team will be featured online at Clintonherald.com and at the Herald’s Facebook page. Elements will include stories, photos and video.
Reed and Swails will monitor weather conditions and the latest satellite data. Often there are several potential storms to chose from, and they will decide which one to pick.
