Young may face federal charges

CLINTON — The Clinton High School band teacher who was arrested in an Internet sting after he allegedly attempted to meet someone he thought to be a 14-year-old girl for sex at a DeWitt hotel may now face federal charges.

According to court documents, the charge of attempting to entice away a minor against James W. Young, 33, has been dismissed in Clinton County District Court because “prosecution by other authorities is imminent.”

Assistant Clinton County Attorney Ross Barlow stated Friday that he expects the United States Attorney’s Office will initiate federal charges against Young some time next week.
