CLINTON —
Clinton police are continuing to search for a man who robbed the Lyons Branch of the Clinton National Bank on Monday.
“Through the help of the community and our officers’ efforts hopefully we will apprehend the suspect,” Clinton Police Capt. Bill Greenwalt said.
Police searched the immediate area with canine units and set up a perimeter.
Greenwalt added that the other nearby financial institutions were alerted.
He said they did not feel a need to evacuate residents of nearby homes.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the probe.
Greenwalt confirmed that no one was injured in the robbery, which happened around 11:50 a.m. at 1912 N. Second St.
According to a police press release, the suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Greenwalt could not confirm whether the suspect was armed.
The suspect was described as a white male with a thin build. He was wearing a dark multi-colored stocking cap, a dark-colored hooded coat and blue jeans.

While a bank official confirmed there was a robbery, he declined to make any additional comments.
