County eyes new marketing alliance

CLINTON — Community development organizations in Clinton County will join with Quad-Cities First in a marketing alliance.

Clinton Regional Development Corporation President and CEO Steve Ames and DeWitt Chamber Development Company Executive Director Tami Petsche visited with the Clinton County Board of Supervisors this week. The board agreed to divert $5,000 of money alloted for marketing development to invest in a one year external marketing alliance with Quad-Cities First. This will leave $3,700 in the bank.

“Both the DeWitt and Clinton regional development corporation can’t market their respective area without selling the workforce connection that we have with the Quad Cities,” Ames told the board.

Petsche and Ames felt that since the Clinton County area is already tied to the Quad Cities, it makes sense to join resources. With the alliance, they will use the same portfolios representing the larger area when on sales trips.

“To have someone go out and sell our entire region for us through sales trips to different companies and site consultants, that’s something that DeWitt can not do on it’s own,” Petsche said. “The more that you can show to a customer or client, in terms of available buildings and property, the more, I guess, excited and the more willing that company is to look at our region.”

Ames said the alliance will last one year and will then be reviewed to see if it was a benefit to the area. The CRDC will approve the effort Wednesday. Ames also expects Muscatine and Jackson counties to join the new effort.
