UPDATE - 6/22/2012: The victim in the shooting was identified as Kevin James Horst, 44, of Clinton.
Horst died Thursday at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic from injuries sustained as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A man suffered a gunshot wound to the head while hunting a raccoon, according to family members.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office arrived at 6:49 a.m. today at 48542 75th St. in Miles for an apparent gunshot wound to an individual.
Upon arrival, the victim, whose name is not being released at this time, was found lying on his back with a gunshot wound to the head.
Family members said the victim took a .22 caliber single shot rifle to shoot a raccoon and did not return. The Jackson County Sheriff’s office said the incident does not appear to be suspicious.
The victim was transported to the Jackson County Regional Health Center and then airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. His health status is not being released.
