FULTON, Ill. —
The River Bend School Board soon will begin the process to select a new Fulton High School principal. The selection process will be conducted openly and involve parent, community, student and faculty input and engagement, according to Superintendent Chuck Holliday.
Current principal Loren Beswick will be leaving the district June 30 after three years as principal at the high school. The first step is a survey to determine the ideal qualities for someone filling the position.
High school teachers, students and parents will be invited to fill out the survey with their desired talents, skills and characteristics for the principal between Feb. 1 and 8.
Next, an interview committee including the superintendent, a board of education member, the elementary school principal, high school representatives, a parent and a community member will interview four to six candidates presented by the superintendent. All committee members will need to commit to attending all candidate interviews the week of Feb. 18-23.
All interview committee members will complete a common rating sheet for each interviewed candidate. The rating sheets will be used in the superintendent’s decision making to call back two or three candidates for finalist interviews.
Final interviews will take place the week of March 4.The superintendent, a board member and the elementary and middle school principals will interview two or three final candidates. The final step is a private interview between the projected final candidate and the superintendent by March 15, followed by a hiring recommendation decision at the March 18 regular Board of Education meeting.
