More than 2,000 people in Camanche and an additional 761 people living in Clinton County are without power as of 12:30 p.m. today.
According to information on Mid American Energy’s Web site, 2,133 people in Camanche are without power. The site also listed outages in more than 20 towns, but the concentration was in Camanche.
Alliant Energy’s Web site lists 761 people in Clinton County without power. Nancy Craig, Alliant Energy spokeswoman, said residents living in Elvira, Eldridge, Welton, Parkview and DeWitt have been affected.
Craig said outage reports came in around 10:15 a.m. today after temperatures dropped and wind speeds increased. Restoration time for those areas is estimated at 1:15 p.m., Craig said.
“If there is any ice or large gust of wind that will cause the line to sag and then trip the breaker that can cause a power outage,” she said.
Crews are currently out patrolling the lines to find the exact location of the problem, she said.
