CLINTON - The Clinton Country Club Board of Directors announced Friday that the country club has entered in a contract to purchase the Valley Oaks golf facilities.
The Clinton Country Club intends to relocate to the Valley Oaks location under the new name, the “Clinton Country Club at the Oaks.”
CCC intends to operate a semi-private golf course and social club. The board hopes the club will retain the majority of its current membership and acquire new members from Valley Oaks as well. Four classifications of memberships will be offered -- Family- $2,250 per year; Husband and Wife - $1,800 per year; Individual $1,200 per year; and Junior (under 18 years of age) $300 per year. Dues are on a 12-month membership basis and the club will offer a monthly payment plan.
The club will be open to the public for golf Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and after 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Members will have the benefit of making preferred tee times two weeks in advance. The public may make tee times up to six days in advance.
Current club golf professional, Matt Lewis, will continue on as the club pro and will bring his pro shop to the new location. Lessons will be available to both members and non-members. The club plans on hosting many golf events and booking of public outings will be encouraged. The club also hopes to retain the evening golf leagues which have enjoyed Valley Oaks in the past.
The 2010 public green fee and cart rental rates are comparable to the 2009 Valley Oaks’ rates. The club is encouraging public use of the golf course and will continue to offer the public competitive rates for a 18 hole golf course. Food and beverages will be available to both the public and members. Lunch, dinner and grill entrees will be offered. More specific details of rates and membership benefits are available by contacting the Clinton Country Club.
The board intends to make improvements in both the golf course and clubhouse facilities. Although major renovations to the clubhouse are not likely to occur in 2010, the board hopes to develop a plan for expansion of the clubhouse during the upcoming year and to implement the plan within a year. The board intends to have the current clubhouse open to its members in February or early March of 2010 until the golf course opens for the season. The clubhouse will then service both its members and public play customers.
Future plans include developing a clubhouse facility with dining for approximately 200 people, a members’ bar and meeting area, pro shop, locker rooms and showers, and club storage.
"Although selling the Clinton Country Club after 89 years of existence is very emotional and sad to many longtime members and residents of Clinton, we see the opportunity to carry on the Clinton Country Club legacy and ownership at the new location to be a win–win situation for our members, Valley Oaks members, the golf community, social members and the city," the board said in a release. "We believe this is a great opportunity to offer a wonderful experience for golfers of all levels, an excellent estaurant, and a fun social club."
