CLINTON —
A Clinton man has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual abuse for an alleged relationship with a 14-year-old female as well as assault on a police officer and interference with official acts.
According to court documents, Jason B. Petersen, 32, 1720 Camanche Ave. apartment 3, admitted he had sexual intercourse with a female juvenile he knew was 14 at least 20 times from September to November of 2011.
On Aug. 29, Clinton Police Cpl. John Davis and Officer Roger Schumacher executed the warrant for his arrest for sex abuse in the third degree, a class “C” felony, according to a written statement from Schumacher.
Officers were invited into Petersen’s apartment and confirmed the warrant with dispatch. They then advised Petersen to stand up and place his hands behind his head, according to Schumacher’s written account.
“Petersen stood up and took a swing at me striking the right side of my face,” Schumacher wrote. “Petersen physically fought with officers while being taken to the ground...As a result of Petersen’s assault and resistance I had pain to the right side of my face, swelling to my right hand and a small abrasion to my right hand.”
Schumacher wrote he also suffered pain to his left knee as a result of the struggle bringing Petersen to the ground. Petersen was charged with assault on a police officer causing bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was also charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. He was held on $10,000 cash bond, which the defense has made a motion to reduce.
Petersen on Friday entered a written plea of not guilty to all counts.
A trial date has not been set.
