Man jailed on firearm, OWI charge

CLINTON — A Clinton man will serve time in the Clinton County jail for driving while intoxicated and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.

Raymond K. Handy, 41, 1011 Fifth Ave. South, apartment three, was ordered to serve 180 days in the Clinton County jail, with 150 days suspended and credit for three days served for operating while intoxicated, second offense, and for carrying a firearm while intoxicated. The sentences would be served concurrently.

According to an affidavit, Clinton police officers were dispatched at 1:45 a.m. Aug. 8 to 555 Seventh Ave. South for a call from a family member who reported Handy was en route to the residence with a loaded handgun and was threatening her and anyone trying to stop him, according to the affidavit.

She further reported that Handy was intoxicated. Officers located his vehicle and arrested him, according to court documents.

For the operating while intoxicated charge, Handy was fined $1,875. He must complete 12 months of probation, receive a substance abuse evaluation from New Directions and complete the Drinking Drivers Program at Clinton Community College.
