Boys roundup: Riverdale tops Fulton

FULTON, Ill. — Riverdale outscored Fulton 39-19 in the second half Friday to earn a 65-48 win in Three Rivers Athletic Conference boys basketball.

TJ Huizenga and John Widener each scored 12 points to lead the Steamers.



Erie wins rivalry game

ERIE, Ill. — Jacob Johnston scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half to help Erie overcome a 27-23 halftime deficit and hand rival Prophetstown its first Three Rivers Athletic Conference loss of the season Friday night, 57-51.

Johnston went 13-of-13 from the free-throw line, hitting nine in the fourth quarter. Rhett Stover added 22 points for the Cardinals.

Prophetstown (9-7, 3-1 conference) got double-digit efforts from Devin Johnson (17) and Carter Ames (14).



Morrison loses

AMBOY, Ill. — Alexander Volckmann scored 12 points Friday night to lead Morrison, but the Mustangs lost to Amboy 35-24 in Three Rivers Athletic Conference boys basketball. The Mustangs trailed 31-14 after three quarters.



Rebels win

GOOSE LAKE — Northeast’s Bo Lingle scored 12 of his game-high 16 points in the second half as the Rebels overcame a second-half deficit to beat Marquette Catholic 50-46 on Friday night in Big East Conference boys basketball.

The Rebels (8-1, 6-1 conference) got 13 points from Will Hasken. Isaac Sturm scored 13 points to lead the Mohawks.



Preston wins again

PRESTON — Logan Wilhelms led five Preston players into double-digit scoring as the Trojans drilled Calamus-Wheatland 83-58 in Big East boys basketball Friday.

Wilhelms scored 25 points to lead all scorers, including 15 in the first half.

The Trojans (7-0, 5-0 Big East) scored the first seven points and led 20-9 after the first quarter. Then, they closed the second quarter with a 7-0 run in the final minute after Cal-Wheat (2-7, 2-5) pulled within 30-28.

Colton Bormann finished with 17 points for Preston, Ethan Carstensen scored 12, Colin Larson added 11 and Chase Zaruba chipped in with 10. The Trojans made 28 of 40 free-throw attempts, including 22 of 32 in the second half.

Jake Janssen and Justin Alden each scored 11 points to lead the Warriors.



Sabers notch win

DEWITT — Central DeWitt outscored Williamsburg 10-6 in the third quarter to take a five-point lead and widened the margin in the final period for a 51-42 victory in WaMaC Conference boys basketball Friday.

McClain Steffens led the Sabers (6-3) with 11 points, and Trevor Green added 10. DeWitt enjoyed an 8-0 advantage in 3-point baskets.

Matt Heitman scored 13 for Williamsburg (3-5), and Jacob Donaohoe added 10.
