Vigil service for George Stanley Sturtz, 80, of Emmett, who died Wednesday, August 15, at a Boise hospital will be held on Sunday, August 19, at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emmett. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Chapel Emmett.
George was born on February 13, 1932, at Clinton, Iowa. He was reared and educated there. He joined the United States Air Force after graduation and served for 10 years. George married Mary Lou Brow on August 2, 1958, at Tampa, Florida. They moved to Dallas, TX, for two years, then returned to Tampa where they lived for 31 years. He worked as an electrician for many years. They moved to Emmett in 1996 where they have since resided.
George was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Emmett; a son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Mary of Emmett; and 3 grandchildren, Georgia, Randi and Jack Sturtz; and numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Sturtz of Clinton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Johnny and Bill; and a sister, Mary Paysen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
