Daniel Scott Pitton, age 52, of Pearl City, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Daniel was born January 9, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Patricia (Newman) Pitton and was a graduate of St. Mary High School and Mount St. Clare College, both in Clinton, IA. He married Chris Brelsfoard on July 8, 1995, in Clinton, IA. He was employed as a truck driver for Nestle in Dekalb, IL, and had received several safety awards. Daniel enjoyed listening to audio books in his truck, camping, traveling and most of all, spending time with his family, friends and dogs. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Survivors include his wife, Chris of Pearl City; his mother, Patricia of Fulton; two stepdaughters, Cally (David) Rodriguez of Sterling and DeAnna (Anthony) Vasquez of Rock Falls; two sisters, Sue (Steve) Korous of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Mary (Steve) Smith of DeSoto, MO.; four brothers, Mike (Shawn) Pitton of Iowa City, Iowa, Jon (Deb) Pitton of Burnsville, Minn., Tom Pitton of Des Moines, Wash., and Dave (Kim) Pitton of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepgrandchildren, Jaicie Vasquez and Prestyn Vasquez-Pope; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1601 16th Avenue in Fulton and also on Wednesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Open Door in Clinton, Iowa, with Pastor James Machen officiating. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery in Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Bill Brelsfoard Memorial Scholarship Fund.
