PRESTON —
Velma C. Yaddof, age 82, of Preston, Iowa died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Preston. Burial will take place in Preston Cemetery, Preston. A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Velma was born June 29, 1930, the daughter of John and Leoni (Schmidt) Steines in Spragueville, Iowa. She attended country school and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Clinton. Velma married Alvin Yaddof on October 27, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa.
She worked for the Preston Creamery for 14 years, Clinton Corn Company in A.R.A Food Service, and also sold Avon. She attended St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston. Velma was a member of the Red Hat Club. Velma enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and cruising around with her family. She loved visiting with friends and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Velma will be dearly missed by her husband of 64 years, Alvin; two sons; Michael (Lisa) Yaddof of Preston and Leroy Yaddof of Preston, her five daughters; Barb (John) Dodd of Clinton, Carol (Terry) Helmle of Preston, Nancy (Jim) Derganz of Maquoketa, Iowa, Janet (Jon) Lee of Preston, and Debbie (David) Lee of Preston; sixteen grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter, Amy Derganz.
