Iris H. Dreibelbeis, 91, of Nevada, formerly of Clinton, died on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Iris was born on March 10, 1921, in Marion County, IA, to Charles and Susie (Hiner) Converse. She was a graduate of Tracy High School where she played basketball. Iris also attended Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines. On June 15, 1941, she was united in marriage to Hubert E. Dreibelbeis in Lancaster, MO. They returned to Clinton in 1945 and Iris resided there until 2010. She adored canning fruits and vegetables, working in her yard and sewing.
Iris is survived by her daughter, Jean (Bill) Van Sickle of Nevada and four grandchildren.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 24, 1991; two sons, Ted E. in 1955 and Tom C. on September 28, 2001; three brothers, Lewis, Carlos and Harris Converse; three sisters, Addis Whitaker, Avis Duffy and an infant.
A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Iris for the Veterans Affairs.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada, Iowa, has been entrusted with the care of Iris and her family.
