CLINTON —
June A. Lackiewiez, 65, of Clinton, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Mercy Living Center – North, Clinton after a courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be Noon, Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Church of the Visitation – Camanche. Burial will be in the St. Irenaeus Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
June Annette Cherry was born on June 15, 1947 in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Helen (Cherry) Stimac and Matt Stimac. She married Thomas E. Lackiewiez on January 26, 1974 in Davenport, Iowa.
She was a graduate of Joliet Lockport Central High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant for 10 years before being transferred to the Rock Island Arsenal.
She was a member of the Church of the Visitation. She enjoyed walking in parades and attending festivals with her husband and beloved parrot Punky. Her greatest joy was entertaining with children with having Punky on children’s shoulders as they would pose for pictures. She enjoyed traveling to the Wisconsin Dells and Minnesota. She enjoyed her honeymoon to Hawaii in 1975 and also traveling to Florida to visit her parents and Disney World.
She is survived by her husband Tom of Clinton; one aunt Ann Charmichael of Portage, Indiana and her mother-in-law: Lititia Lackiewiez of Clinton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
