SAVANNA, Ill. —
Robert “Bob” H. Goodrow, age 85 of East Moline, Illinois, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, died on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Bob’s memory. Bob was born on January 22, 1927, the son of Harold and Grace (Noll) Goodrow in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended High School in Cedar Rapids and graduated with the Class of 1945. Bob served his country in the United States Navy towards the end of World War II. While enlisted in the United States Navy, Bob married DeLoris Kurth on November 24, 1945 in Yuma, Arizona.
After his enlistment, Bob and DeLoris moved to Thomson, Illinois. Bob worked in the Special Weapons Division at the Savanna Army Depot for thirty-two years. After retiring Bob and DeLoris managed and lived in Century Pines, Mount Carroll. They purchased a home in Savanna in 1984 and lived there for twenty-five years before moving to East Moline. Bob was a member of the Savanna V.F.W. Post #2223 and was chosen to participate in the “Honor Flight” in 2011. Bob enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends. Bob especially enjoyed playing Euchre and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Bob will be dearly missed by his wife, DeLoris of East Moline; one daughter, Diana Buck of Port Byron, Illinois; two grandchildren, Beth (Jim) Mitchell of Erie, Illinois and Scott (Heather) Florence of Gnadenhutten, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Katie, Kelli, Tyler and Zoe; and one brother in-law, Jay Kurth of Savanna.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Everett Goodrow.
