Wilmer R. (Bill) Nier, 93, formerly of Clinton, passed away at his home in San Antonio, TX, Sunday, January 27, 2013.
Bill was born October 20, 1919 in Clinton. He graduated from Clinton High School. He entered the armed services in 1943 taking his basic training at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He served with the Army Anti-aircraft Division in Germany and France during World War II. For a time, his unit was assigned to Gen. George S. Patton’s Third Army. He married Jewell Aude in 1949.
After the service, he attended DeVry Institute in Chicago. After completing his training, he and Jewell moved to San Antonio where he worked for many years as the manager of Modern Electronics.
He is survived by Jewell, his loving wife of 64 years, brother Roland (Clarite) Neer of San Antonio, Texas, sister Madonna (Howard) Knutson of Pella, Iowa, sister-in-law Mary Nier of Clinton, Iowa, brother-in-law Kenneth (Delores) Aude of DeWitt, Iowa, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Elsie Nier, and brother Wayne Nier.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Sunset Memorial in San Antonio.
